Of millennial origin testified by its coastal caves and dolmen
and menhir that time ago marked the surrounding country.
To visit:
The Romanesque cathedral, the medieval citadel with
its mighty castle dating from 1500.
The caves: Zinzulusa, Romanelli, are the most famous;
others only known by the local fishermen who accompany tourists
to visit them with little boats and are: Palummara, Ritunneddhra,
Ritunna and others.

The Zinzulusa is the most interesting cave of
Puglia: It is a collection of environments and areas of rare beauty,
which meet along an amazing corridor of stalactites and stalagmites
in dialect "zinzuli" from which originates
the name. In the waters of the cave rare samples of extraneous prehistoric
fauna are found , rare to the Italian hypogeal fauna (here can be
found about 60 kinds of biological elements).
Romanelli cave: inside tempered human and faunal remains
have been found ,utensils and graffiti that date back to more than
35 thousand years ago. Between the Romanelli cave and the Zinzulusa
there is an underwater stream with signs that guide the scuba diver
to the discovery of. marvellous backdrops and fish. The "blue
path".
Castro Harbor is a place of enchanting panoramas along cliff
precipices that seem to plunge in the sea , where we find: houses,
hotels, villas, restaurants. Don't miss the suggestive festival
of the fish that is held on April 18-19th in occasion of the feast
of the patron of the country: the Holy Mother with a boat procession
to sea.
